'Good Morning America''s Rachel Scott Is Engaged

The Good Morning America family will soon be celebrating another wedding!

Fourth months after co-anchor Robin Roberts tied the knot, senior congressional correspondent Rachel Scott has announced her engagement. Roberts, 63, shared the happy news with viewers on Monday's broadcast of the ABC morning show.

"Big news from our GMA family to kick off 2024. Our Rachel Scott is engaged!" she cheered, before asking Scott, 32, to share the details of her fiancé Elliott Smith's proposal.

"You know, I gotta admit, this one was a total surprise," she explained, as footage appeared onscreen showing Smith down on one knee in front of Scott in a garden setting.

"When I saw that gazebo with all of the rose petals and the flowers, I actually thought it was there for someone else," she continued. "I thought we were going to ruin someone else's engagement, but it turned out to be my own."

Scott then gave a nod to Roberts' own New Year's announcement that she would be marrying her longtime love Amber Laign in 2023. "You said yes to marriage this time last year, Robin, and I am so excited to say yes to marriage this year."

She then asked her colleagues for their best tips and advice for planning a wedding and having a happy marriage. "So please, guys, send me all your newlywed and engagement tips — we are taking it all."

"I can actually give advice now!" Roberts joked in response, doing a little dance in her chair.

Scott reshared the GMA clip of her on-air engagement announcement on X (formerly Twitter). "Can’t stop smiling — All the love in 2024," she wrote. "So excited to say YES to marriage — & so grateful to my @GMA family for the special shout-out this morning."

In a post on her Instagram page, Scott also shared a series of photos of Smith's surprise proposal, including a shot of her reaction to her engagement ring. Another image showed the pair smiling and embracing as they soaked up the special moment.

"YES! 💍🤍," she captioned the post.

Several of Scott's ABC colleagues congratulated the couple in the comment section, including Gio Benitez, who wrote, "YESSSSSS!!!! Congratulations!!!! 😍😍."
