Margot Robbie Proves Blondes Can Wear Yellow in Breathtaking Dress

Hello, sunshine!

Occasionally, the fashion world rallies behind some silly rules. (No white after Labor Day, never mix black and brown, you know the drill.) But thanks to Margot Robbie, we can finally put the “blondes shouldn’t wear yellow” decree to rest.

The Wolf of Wall Street beauty, 24, shined bright on the Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards red carpet in London on Nov. 4, thanks to her plunging lemon confection of a dress. Robbie chose the Rosie Assoulin floor-sweeper for the occasion, pairing the sunny design with rose gold sandals and bold jewels.

Most importantly, the Pan Am alum didn’t hide her golden tresses! Instead, Robbie wore her blonde locks smooth and long, and looked gorgeous doing so, proving once and for all that anyone—including blondes—can wear yellow.

In June, Blake Lively supported Gucci’s Chime for Change in NYC wearing the Italian fashion house’s plunging amber minidress. In 2012, Julianne Hough worked an even brighter hue—a highlighter yellow dress by Kaufmanfranco—to the Rock of Ages premiere in Los Angeles.

Back in 2010, Sarah Jessica Parker stunned at Sex and the City 2‘s Big Apple premiere in a neon yellow, asymmetrical chiffon dress. And in one of the most classic examples of all time, Michelle Williams walked the red carpet at the 2006 Academy Awards in a breathtaking Vera Wang mustard gown, a look that continues to make best-dressed lists today.

“I don’t usually think, like, Oh, I really did a great job. But there are times when I know that I’ve gotten good response for stuff. That yellow dress is one of them,” Kate Young, Williams’ longtime stylist, revealed to Nymag.com last month. “People still reference it all the time. And that makes me feel good.”
