Sister Wives' Meri Brown Opens Up About Loving Her Catfisher
Coming clean about the L-word. Meri Brown explains in Sister Wives‘ season 7 Tell-All on Sunday, June 26, why she used the word “love” in conversations with the person she was in an online relationship with last year. Meri later learned that she was a victim of catfishing.
In Us Weekly‘s exclusive sneak peek at the TLC unscripted series’ episode, host Erica Hill asks Meri, 45, what she was getting from her online relationship with a man named “Sam Cooper” — who turned out to actually be Jackie Overton — that she wasn’t getting from husband Kody Brown.
“At the very beginning, this person was fun, funny, just good conversation,” Meri says. “At first, it was kind of cool just to have that companionship, I guess. I cared about who I thought she was portraying him to be because I have a trusting heart and a loving heart.”
Hill wants to know why Meri used the word “love” in the online exchanges.
“I talked to this person like, ‘OK, OK, love you, bye,’ kind of a conversation,” the reality TV star continues. “I didn’t know what was going on and what was going to happen, and I actually told this person, I said, ‘I’m not crossing any lines — that is not me, and I will not do that.’ So the feelings that I had were confusing.”
For his part, Kody, 48, reveals that he was in the dark about Meri’s online relationship as it was developing.
“I didn’t know what was going on — I was lost in this,” he says. “Meri and I were struggling enough. It was very hard to communicate.”
